It’s an impressive sight, especially in wet weather. This high prospect tower can be seen for miles, and if your pockets are deep enough, you can even book to stay here! Then further along this walk is Sowter Stone Waterfall, which feeds down to the Chatsworth Aqueduct where four tall arches finish with another waterfall. Standing proud over the Chatsworth Estate and on the edge of Stand Wood is the Chatsworth Hunting Tower, built in the 1570s. In wet weather, the path can be very muddy after you leave the small park in Mottram up to the ridge. 112 m - Small park off Alderley Roadģ : km 2.88 - alt. There are some wooden sculptures and a bench at the intersection of Oak Road and Priest Lane at the village green.( D/A) ( 4) Turn left at Alderley Road and back to the start of the walk. Follow this quiet road back to Mottram St Andrew. ( 3) Turn left and keep left on this road until turning left into Oak Road towards Withinlee Farm. ( 2) Exit Hare Hill by the small road onto Prestbury Road. You can choose to visit the gardens at this point.

    Follow the path, up the hill, towards the gardens and a small road. There is a small lake soon after the entrance to the grounds of Hare Hill. Follow the well marked path to Hare Hill being careful to keep right at Alder Wood where the path splits. ( 1) Head up the hill and turn left in the woods. Keep to the right hand side of the park and take the footpath through the hedge and across a small stream. The entrance to the park is between two houses. ( D/A) Start the walk in a small park off Alderley Road.
